2014 Production

We are celebrating our 14th Season with a production of Shakepeare’s MACBETH

July 15th-July 27th, 2014

Saratoga Shakespeare welcomes the 2014 season! Happy New Year and thank you for helping us produce outstanding, free professional theater in Saratoga’s Congress Park. You came to last summer’s Merry Wives and supported us with your generous donations, helping us to bring you new and exciting productions in coming years.

Last summer’s rollicking production of Shakespeare’s THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR, performed in honor of Saratoga’s 150 years of arts and racing, was recently named by Bob Goepfert of the Saratogian/Troy Record, “One of the regions Top 10 Small Company Productions.” We want to thank our wonderful guest director, David Girard and our brilliant cast for their sparkling performances during last summer’s burning heat on our Alfred Z. Solomon Stage, aptly nicknamed “the griddle.”  Their performances were enjoyed by record-breaking audiences and set a high standard that we resolve to uphold.

Last summer we also began a new relationship with Skidmore College’s Office of Special Programs. We offered academic credit and housing for our interns through the college, and Skidmore provided housing for some of our staff and actors, as well as use of the rehearsal studios in the Janet Kinghorn Bernhard Theater. We look forward to continuing this important and growing relationship.

“Something wicked this way comes.”

Join us as we present one of the greatest tragedies ever written, Shakespeare’s MACBETH, overflowing with murder, madness and evil spirits, as it explores the dark side of ambition, greed, and guilt. MACBETH is the play most requested by our summer audiences, and we are very excited to gratify your wishes.
